Santa Barbara, CA based W2 Energy Development Corporation offers a new technology called WindWing/WaterWing for harvesting wind and water energy.
Testing of a "proof-of-concept" WindWing prototype indicates that existing propeller driven turbine technology does not compare favorably with respect to harvesting efficiency. Even at this early stage of development, the stacked multi-wing technology shows potential for being quantitatively more productive for harvesting wind energy.
It is a simple design comprising fewer moving parts and assures a significantly lower capital investment to produce an equivalent power output. Maintenance costs will be commensurately lower. Additionally, inherent problems relating to noise, bird destruction, and other negative operational and technical issues are resolved.
